Untrasound

I've got my first midwife appointment on 1st March, i'll be 9 weeks pregnant by then and was wondering whether they are likely to do an ultrasound/listen to baby's heartbeat? I know of so many who have had this and they have had an empty sack, and i'd rather know if the sack is empty before my 3 month scan! Any advice?? :)
