Hello,

I had my 38 week appt this morning, right on the 38 week mark. My provider suggested she could sweep the membranes if I was dilated at all (turns out I still am not). I have not had any issues and didn't realize it would be suggested when I am not yet overdue - is this typical? Is there a reason they would start sweeping now vs. after 40 weeks? And if you had it done, how successful was it? I'm still hoping to work for another 2 weeks, up to due date if possible, so not sure that I would have wanted it - even if it had been possible - if it meant possibly going into labor this weekend.
