I had an appointment today with a fertility specialist and I mentioned to him that my husband and I smoke marijuana. He stated that it doesn't affect woman but it affects men.

I've smoked daily for over 14 years & I'm as fertile as a teenager!  I am 29 years old, my doctor checked mine & my husbands fertility at the beginning of our journey. All that crap about smoking weed & fertility issues is bs. I have fertility issues because my body doesn't produce the pregnancy hormone (progesterone ) not because I'm a pot head!

Idk. I don't believe it. I smoked the night my son was conceived and smoked occasionally before that & my sons father literally smoked almost every day. I had a normal healthy pregnancy and had him exactly on my due date :)

Here's the thing: The answer in popular science is 'yes.' But, most of the studies are reliant on personal surveys, as there's no way to ethically test marijuana use, especially in places where it's illegal (which is most places). I have done a lot of research on this particular topic. The results are too often based off of small numbers in biased groups. I haven't read one study (and yes, I read the studies) where it was a large enough test to actually determine causality. Even in men's sperm count and motility, the effects are generally temporary. I think you really have to be careful with research like this. Even my OBGYN said that people are trying to prove that marijuana does something bad, and there's no ethical way to test it right now.

Thanks ladies! Just a question.. I pretty much stopped since I've been ttc. Also haven't been drinking either. If I do & I know it's not always effected I'll take a test before I do either.

TTC WITH FIBROMYALGIA I've been reading a lot of comments on this topic and am still on the line about it. I have moderate finromialgia and smoke MEDICINAL MJ to help with tha nausea and the chronic pain and fatigue wich helps immensely. I know that having  a pregnancy with these health issues just means my symptoms may possibly get much worse. I have some medical knowledge as both my parents work in the medical field and I am a certified dialysis technician as well. Just to give a background  of myself in my reasoning.
