I struggle with this all the time.  My husband's mom ruined my wedding shower and didn't show up to our wedding ceremony because she was fighting with her sisters.  I feel she is the most insensitive - selfish person in the entire world yet my husband always brushes aside her behavior. ..it's exhausting.  The best advice I can give you is forgiveness and distance. ..just stay away from her as much is possible.

Yes, because no matter what, you made a vow commitment to him & leaving him because of his mother isn't a good reason. Try other steps before "leaving him"'pops in your head. Examples- counselling, all sitting down together, ect

Mothers don't like realizing that their baby boy is all grown up and has a partner to look after them and they are not needed, try acting like she is the most nicest person in the world, every time she says something mean say something thats mean back in a nice way so she can't tell if you are being nice or not, use some witt and stump her before she gets going.

Just broke up with my boyfriend of 3 years for that exact reason ! His mother was disrespectful since day 1 ! He would usually stand up to her and id bite my tongue but the one time I stand up to her. I get broken up with and called all types of names smh. His mom tore us apart. Now he has a new girl who bought her way into the family smh. We still see each other every now and then because the love is still there but I can't take it. It's not healthy.
