Labor and Delivery Last Night!

So I was having some very bad contractions lasting about 1 minute each, 3 minutes apart for 4 hours. Hubby and I drive to labor and delivery where my contractions were reading off the charts. They checked me and I was still only dilated 1 cm and same after 2 hours. They gave me a shot of Demerol and said I will either wake up feeling better or wake up in full blown labor. Well neither is true. I'm still having contractions but my water hasn't broke (that I know of...I think I peed myself this morning). Anyone else have similar experiences? I'm 40w today and just exhausted.
