Music for delivery?

Question

I'm way ahead of myself, but I know I want to have music playing during my delivery if possible. I'm kind of picky and I'm wondering if it's better for labor to have music I like (upbeat, etc.) versus kind of vanilla, but more soothing music. I was just wondering who had done this and what you played. Did it help? Did it matter at all when all was said and done?

My sister had her daughter in January and made me play Work It by Mossy Elliot for her so that she could move her hips and relieve a lot of her pain through her contractions. It helped her a ton. She went from moaning and groaning to dancing and seeming more like herself. So I say go for it! If you think it'll help, there's no harm in trying. Hospital didn't have a problem with the music at all. :)

Our childbirth instructor suggested 2 playlists, the fun upbeat for early labor and the relaxing soothing for active labor when your in pain and getting closer to pushing

I plan on finding a Oandora station and just doing a lot of thumbs up/ thumbs down in the weeks before so it has a good stock of what I want :)

I would say do what ever relaxes you!! For me I get all uncomfortable and annoyed with what I call "yoga music". Love classic as I am a dancer, but to me there is a big difference. I prefer something I can count the beat to or start dancing in my head. That's my happy place. The important thing is to be relaxed so it is whatever does that for you
