How do you find out how many lbs the baby is going to be?

I asked my ob and he said I can't tell that info but he has an ultrasound machine and could tell everything else.

Ultrasounds aren't reliable when it comes to how much the baby weighs. They can be up to 2 lbs off in either direction. It's basically just a guesstimate. My son measured at 10 lbs, and he was born 7 lbs 11 oz. some doctors won't measure weight because it's unreliable.

When i had my first cervical exam around 33 weeks he said whoa she is big and head down then he measured my stomach and said shes about 6 pounds already but just to be sure next appointment will do an ultrasound a week later at the ultrsound appt she was 7 pds

My doctor said because I am measuring right on schedule, I will probably have a 7.5lb baby. But who knows.

My dr only uses an ultrasound as a guide to check length and head size and the weight is just a guess.. I have a growth scan next week since I was in labor and it stalled so they want to see if she might have a hard time getting into position.
