The day before, my water broke at 7:30am and I so happened to have a prenatal appointment with my midwife that morning; so she checked, confirmed, and said "let's have a baby!" I had no contractions all day, but the moment I laid down for bed they began. I labored at home from roughly 11pm to 4am, and then we transitioned to the birthing center where I labored for 4 more hours (the last two of which were pushing) before he was born in the water at 8:25am. 🌊
I took nothing for the pain. My husband sat with me in the tub surrounded by tea lights, the midwives diffused essential oils, we looped meditation music (really helped my focus). I napped between contractions and remember dreaming of the pain being a distant memory. Our son was born caught by his daddy, then right into my arms. His cord was left to finish pulsing completely, and then the placenta was saved and later encapsulated. His vernix was left and rubbed into his skin. And in the first 10 minutes of being born, while in the tub still, he began to breast-crawl! I got out and into the bed right there, my son lay skin to skin on me, and the midwives made us all the worlds best smoothies. They later brewed herbs and prepped me a sitz bath. 🌻
I have never felt such a rush of hormonal adrenaline and to this moment my body is still coming down from it. The experience, however painful, was incredible and beautiful. I felt so broken down by nature's great design, and yet so powerful and strong. My son wasn't the only one born that day, I'm a whole new woman.
How lucky I felt to give birth in such an environment. I was purely pampered through it all by the midwives, and felt so at peace and in my own through labor and postpartum. 🌿
Currently at home surrounded by family taking care of us, on bed rest and healing from minor tears. Just got my milk in this morning.

God has given me the greatest gift of purpose.
In the middle of labor my phone alerted the verse of the day, my girlfriend read it to us in between my pushes: Matthew 18:20 "For where two or more gather in my name, there I am with them."
Cedric arrived an hour later. I'm so in love.
