No I wouldn't want my kids or me living in a home that's packed with junk. They would probably be too embarrassed to have any friends come over and so would I. Plus when people live in chaos it starts to show in other parts of their lives like their job and personal life. Assuming this is a serious hoarder.

I couldn't. I can't even live with someone who's messier than usual. My home represents me, and if my home is dirty then I feel dirty. And if my home is cluttered then I feel like I can't concentrate on anything. That all would just lead to depression and I wouldn't stay in a relationship with someone who made me feel depressed.

I'm the hoarder in my relationship. 😂😂😂 I have OCD compounded with a hoarding disorder. I don't think anyone is out of hope with the right kind of help, and I'm lucky that my partner has never given up on me no matter how bad our place gets sometimes.

But me with another hoarder? I couldn't do it. Two of us would be toxic to each other.

I've been battling this problem with my parents & im NOT dealing with this from someone else in my life. It's too much already. I'm just grateful it at least isn't the more intense end of hoarding like keeping legit trash, dead whatever, etc. In all it is just things they can't let go of because of whatever memory, recycling things in hopes of failed DIY projects, & my mom's paranoia to not trust widely known paper shredder companies 🙄 I cannot and would not stay with someone extra with the same problem. I'm about to break over here.

Hoarding is an extremely difficult condition to treat. Even highly motivated hoarders struggle to change, and the changes are usually minimal and/or temporary. I would not stay in a romantic relationship with a serious hoarder. (Speaking as someone who worked with hoarders as part of a research project.)
