I went to the doctor for my first OB appointment when I was 10 weeks 2 days and she found the heartbeat (very briefly. Didn't even get the beats per minute) so she said I didn't need a first ultrasound until 20 weeks. Since my first pregnancy went smoothly and this second one has had no complications, she said there was no point. That was frustrating to me since I had been struggling with infertility for two years. So I decided to look into getting an elective ultrasound but found out that they passed a law last year in Oregon saying that you can't get a ultrasound without your doctors orders, so there is no way to even have an elective ultrasound!! I talked to my doctor about it but she is firm on her decision. With my last pregnancy 3 years ago I had 3 ultrasounds. I'm so beyond frustrated that I have to wait 7 more weeks to see my baby, that seems like an eternity 😞
