Same gender God parents?

Is it okay to have two female God parents? One from my side of the family & one from my SO's side?

Forgive my ignorance here but isnt the purpose of God parents for them to care for the child in case something happens to parents.  In that case wudn't it be better for the God parents to be a couple (whether same sec or not).  Just curious since I wasnt raised Catholic

I'm not entirely sure about this but I think it depends what religion the place of worship is where you get it done? I know a catholic church can be strict about it

The church will request a god MOTHER and god FATHER. Unfortunately, if you're Catholic, I don't believe they'll allow two same sex god parents. Im sorry!

I don't see why it would matter.. When a family friends baby got baptized a while ago they had no family left to do it so it ended up being my dads room mate (female) and my grandfather.
