Epidural or no epidural ?
Reasons on why , or why not please . I'm having a really hard time debating wether I want it or not

No drugs for this mama and baby!!! We had an all natural L&D with our 1st 2 years ago, and we'll do it all again in June. I don't want anything interfering with what the Good Lord created my body to do. Women have been doing it for thousands of years and if I can do it, you can do it!! Blessings on a happy and healthy delivery!

I'm going to try my best to not have an epidural. The recovery time is much longer and the negative effect on breastfeeding success is not worth the momentary relief. Also it limits the positions a person can be in during delivery which MAY increase the chances of foreceps, a vacuum,  or episiotomy.  Google pros and cons of epidurals to see if it's for you. I hope I can be strong enough to not get one!

My labor felt like I just needed to do a poo really badly. I'd waddle back and forth to the bathroom, nothing would happen, I'd get up and go back to bed. Up again a few minutes later. I never knew that was my contractions until after the nurse checked my chart and said "wow you've had some big ones!" (Like have I really?) 
I ended up getting the epidural so I could sleep without feeling like I had to go. The contractions would wake me up and it was late so I just wanted to sleep.
The anesthesiologist was amazing. The room was quiet and dark when he inserted the needle, I was very in tune with my body and skin. He asked me about the positioning, I told him it felt a little left of my spine. He did it again, and this time it was perfect, he was very gentle and I had minimal bruising. 
My epidural felt great. the nurse was like okay honey, let's move your legs now! I said "well I'm moving them but nothing is happening!" 😂 still makes me laugh. 
All I felt was a little tugging and then there was the baby.

The worst part was the itching after, when the stuff wore off. My skin itched SOOOO bad. My husband bought me a back scratcher from the gift shop to give his fingers a break, but sometimes he had to stop me 'cause he thought I'd take my skin off. I can only imagine that's what crack-cocaine itching is like.

I've had 5 with an epidural...it didn't work so well with #5, so I had #6 without one!  The recovery time, oh my goodness, was awesome!  I could get up and move while I was in labor.  Just such a much better experience (for me) when I went without!

I've had 3 epidurals and I have a high tolerance for pain but there is nothing like labor pains. My last labor was so intense I was boo hoo crying (I dilated to 7cm in 2hrs) and I gladly accepted the drugs. Although I will say it slows your labor down immensely but had absolutely no effect on recovery time it wears off in 30-1hr after it is stopped and let's face it no one pushes out a baby then goes for a walk.

I've had an epidural 2x.  No negative side effects, and it wore off quickly. For me, having to stay in bed for a few hours after is not so bad. You just had a baby! Are yoy wanting to go for a nice walk after? Lol. I think my body deserves the break. Plus i am way too big of a scaredy cat to try without. Kudos to you tough mommas who go without. My hubby can hand me the baby. I've been able to see everything from my bed. The only negative effect I guess is that my legs itched for about 30 mins while the numbing was almost wore off.  Not a big thing to me. As said above, I was totally able to enjoy the birth. I even laughed through my last delivery. Maybe go with the mindset of going without. As soon as those contractions really get going, you'll know what decision you want to make. :)

I said I didn't want one w my first. I am afraid of needles, so that was my only reason. After they had to induce me with pitocin, however, I REALLY wanted the epidural. I had it and then took a nap! It was great. I'll be the same w this baby. No epidural until I can't handle it anymore. The needle still scares me.

Everyone is different. My first I was hell bent on having a natural birth. I was induced and had the worst labor pains in my thighs and back. I was in so much pain it completely ruined having my first baby. My second baby I want induce but had terrible thigh and back labor again and got an epidural. It was so nice I could enjoy my husband and baby after she was born, I wasn't in pain. I had ZERO negative side effects was walking soon after they stopped it. It doesn't make you any less of a woman. Your labor may be easy and you won't need one but don't be afraid to ask for one either.
