Anyone else have baseboard heating?

I know that sounds random lol but our house is from 1920 with the original boiler and it's wonderful for heat. But, the baseboards come out from the bottom of the wall by probably 2-3 inches making it seem impossible to fix and secure furniture to the wall for safety when the baby starts crawling. Does anyone have any ideas for how to overcome that? The baseboards are rather pointy and hard but we have covers that we could set up in all the places that the baby will be. So the main problem is just stability for the furniture!
