Dog has been misbehaving since I got pregnant
I need advice because my husband and I are at our wits end!
We have two dogs. A Rotty/Lab mix (male, 80 lbs) and a terrier mix (Female, 25 lbs).
We've had them for the past 7 years so well before I got pregnant. The boy is being as gentle and normal as ever.
However, the girl has drastically changed. Before getting pregnant she was dominant but very much behaved. Now though, especially the past four months she's been VERY bad.
Chewing clothes, shredding books, peeing and pooping in the house, digging at our couches until one actually ripped open last night, she growls a lot and has even snapped at us!
We've followed all the books. Given her more attention in case the behavior is due to her feeling neglected, we've "set her up to win" by increasing outside time, shutting doors to rooms we don't want her tempted to chew things, putting blankets on the couch... But it's always something.
She knows when she's been bad because she'll run to her crate where she knows she won't be punished (that's her safe spot) so we lock the door for a while and she growls even more.
I've tried letting her lay on my belly but she starts scratching at me and it hurts!
I dont know what to do. We don't want to get rid of her but... This behavior is maddening and we're sick of her ruining all our stuff because she's moody.
I need opinions. Anyone else go through this? Should we hire a professional to come and see her? I don't know what to do anymore :(
