Birth plan?

Chelsie
Do you have a birth plan and why?
If certain practices have actually been proven healthier and safer for mom and baby, the doc would be doing it already, and they aren't going to go out of their way to do medically unnecessary procedures. I'm only concerned about being pressured to have a c-section if it's taking too long for the docs patience, not bc the baby or I are in danger. Other concerns you all have?

My birth plan is: GET THE LITTLE HUMAN OUT OF ME AS SAFETLY AS POSSIBLE. That is all.

No I don't because in my experience, baby calls the shot no matter what you "plan", and I'd rather go with the flow than be one of those stubborn women insistent that everything follow my plan (which I know I'd turn into out of desperation if I had one, then be so upset when nothing worked out that way!).

Not pregnant yet but would have a birth plan because I want certain things done/not done. I know everything won't go as planned.

Like what sort of stuff? I've just started looking up birth plan stuff and the options are overwhelming

I have one but it's pretty simple. I want an IV, the lights dimmed, and no pain meds unless I tell my husband I need them. Everything else in our "plan" has to do with after the baby is already born and are basic medical procedures we've already discussed with the OB.

My birth plan has been the same one I've used for years; once I call my OBGYN and let him know I'm on my way in, he puts a sign on my assigned room saying 'quite please, natural birth in progress' that way my nurses know to be completely silent in my room and not to offer pain medicine in any way. I have an induction date set for 38 weeks but I've never been able to carry past 36 weeks. I have a history of preterm dialation and births as well as my children weighing a lot for their gestation; my largest being 10lbs born at 36 weeks (and yes I eat healthy as I am a small framed woman ((size 2. 120lbs at 5ft5 even after 4 children))) so the excessive birth weight is dangerous for me since my hips don't spread which is why we've already scheduled and induction date.

My plan is basically to be free to move around, try laboring in the tub, and to be able to do everything Islamic (which is right after the birth). Of course, if necessary, I'll do things differently, but I want to have some ideas as to how it'll go, and I want the doctor to know what is important to me.

I didn't have a birth plan set in stone the last 2 births but I will this time. I have already started a form and have discussed it with my doctor. I want a natural birth. No induction, no IV, I want to be able to drink, get in tub/shower, move around etc. no offer of pain med etc.

Check out the business of being born. Keep in mind that hospital birth can be perfectly safe without pushed interventions. This just lets you know your options. It's on Netflix

It depends on the hospital policy

Are you not allowed to drink I during labor? And tub/shower like give birth in a tub? Or just "I've been having contractions for 5 hrs, I want to shower"?

I looked at a check box type form that was 4 or 5 pages long and the options seemed overwhelming, never would have thought of half the stuff.

No and I won't have one. I love my doctor and I just don't think it's practical for me to think I would know better than them.
