His last name or mine ?

I'm 18 and 6wks my boyfriend (well ex) recently moved and now has a new relationship... We don't barley talk but he really wants the baby to have his last name but I'm just not so sure he deserves that and he won't even see the baby that much ... What is your guys opinion on what I should do ?

Honestly I will tell you straight up. If you ever want him to pay for child support. Carry insurance on your child. Or anything like that you need to put his name on the birth certificate. I actually have 2 last names because my mom didn't want me to take his name. When they divorced and I got older I went to have mine name changed and child support themselves told my mom if I had his name removed he would not ever have to pay child support of carry insurance on me. So if you have no plans for making him own up to his financial responsibility it would be fine to solely have your last name. Otherwise I would either do both last names or just his.

My son has mine , me and his father were together at the time but had a lot of prior drama. I told him for now the child would have mine , if things were to get better and we get married we could change it to yours .. Same thing with this baby , but a bit different father doesn't want part of it "at the moment" and even when he does the baby will have mine . We aren't married and I have no real obligation to give it his . I think it's just something the society thinks should be done , the father should give his last name. I've gotten shit for it but hey they ain't helping with my son and sure as hell won't help me with this one . Do what you feel is right.

He left you while you were having his baby. More than likely, you will have that baby more than 70% of the time. Save yourself the pain later in life, give the baby the last name of its mom.

I know what you mean, my mum and dad split up whilst my mum was pregnant with me and he got a new girl friend. I don't know if he ever asked for his surname to be mine, but my mum said no matter what I'm having hers, as she is bringing me up, whereas he was hardly seeing me, xx

Go with your last name.With My 1st child...I gave my son, dads last name & regretted it. Now in the process of getting it changed to my fiance last name who actually takes care of him.
