What am I doing Wrong?

Hello, when I first started my period, I was terrified of using Tampons. Still slightly am. However, as I grew older, I decided to try putting a tampon in and it got stuck. It hurt like hell pulling it out of my vagina too.
So I stopped, and tried again, once more if got stuck.
It seems as though EVERYTIME I try to insert a tampon, I do it incorrectly and it gets stuck despite me watching instructional videos as well as reading various instructions and tips.
I don't want to wear a pad the rest of my life due to the slight uncomfort and rashes on my inner thighs.
What am I doing wrong in the first place and how do I insert it correctly so Aunt Flo won't stop me from swimming.

okay so here's the deal: first thing is make sure you are using regular size. now when you go to insert the tampon in, the first thing I did when it was my first time was put one foot on my bathroom counter and the other on the floor so my legs were spread far. now take the tampon and insert it but kind of like at a SLIGHT angle until ur fingers are touching the lips of your vagina. now pull the plastic applicator out and your good. so when you go to take it out make sure that it's bloody!!! that is probably why it hurt and you felt as if it would get stuck (which isn't going to happen) if it's dry, it's pretty much rubbing against your vagina walls and it hurts while you "drag" it out. but if there is blood on it, it's "moist" I guess you could say and it doesn't hurt. hope this helps girl
