Shall I get another hamster? Baby due in April

Me and my partner had 3 hamsters who have all passed away over the past 7 months (they were all just over 3 when they passed). My partner said maybe we should get another but I don't know. I'm pregnant and baby is due on 22nd April so that's plenty of time to get to know/ tame the hamster but would it be fair to get another one when we have a baby due? Opinions/ advice needed please. Thank you.

A hamster isn't like a dog or anything... I don't see why having a caged animal would be fair or unfair to a baby. It won't be near the baby till its way older anyway

I have a hamster!!!!! I'd say yes get one! We were going to get ducks and chickens, but because my baby is due in 2 weeks we decided not to. Hamsters are easy tho!

If you don't feel ready to take on the responsibility of an animal's life and wellbeing at this busy time then don't. Yeah it's "just a hamster" to some people but rodents are extremely social critters! They need attention from their people everyday, especially if you are only getting one. If you do decide to get another hammy, please consider getting a brother or sister pair (assuming you don't want baby hammies!) so that when times get hectic with the new baby they can entertain each other.
I have owned gerbils for 3.5 years and chinchillas for almost 3 years... If you aren't prepared to commit yourself to a new creature in your life then wait to get the animal please. Their health, happiness, and well being should be taken into consideration before you bring them into your home.

I would say yes if you still have the habitats you owned before. If not then it's potentially stressful for you.
