Born 2-22-16
My love bug was born 2/22/16 at 8:51am. So I decided that I wanted him out of course to see his precious little face but also because I didn't want to start my leave until he was here to get the most out of my time off. At my last appointment on Thursday I was 3cm. So on Friday I walked for over an hour after work. Saturday was normal and I just attended a kids birthday party. On Sunday I took to walking again around the neighborhood. A friend of mines insisted that sex really does bring on contractions so I did get it on that afternoon. My husband and I went to eat and see Deadpool around 4pm. I started having cramping and back pain. While in the movie the cramping got stronger to where I was moving around distract from it. Fast forward to 830pm and I realized the cramping was in fact contractions which where coming on and off about every 10 minutes initially and only lasting about 30 seconds. Since the doctor said contractions should be 5 minutes apart before heading in my husband said we should wait so we wouldn't be sent home. Well I started timing the contractions which got closer together and began to hurt more. I didn't feel like I was dying or anything but it was definitely painful. We left for the hospital about 10:30pm. By the time we got there the contractions were definitely stronger and I shed a couple tears. We went to triage where they determined I was 5cm and would be admitted. This was at 11pm but they didn't have any rooms available so I would have to stay until one was ready. My contractions were further apart now but hurting more. I began to worry that I wouldn't be able to get an epidural and the nurse commented that people had their babies in the triage rooms. I was like well I need the drugs. Finally after about 2 hours I was moved to L&D and they said the anesthesiologist was waiting for me 😀 I was 7cm at this point. I got the epidural which they said should kick in after about 15 mins but after about 45 I was still feeling pain. Again I worried that it wouldn't work and I was screwed. Well it did eventually kick in and it was great. By about 6am I was fully dilated. The doctor broke my water. When they first started having me push they said baby was still too high so we'd wait for him to come down. My actual doctor came on call after 730am and by the time she arrived things got going. I pushed for a while but then she said my contractions were too far apart so they started pitocin. After a few good contractions baby boy was here. A lot smaller than expected at 6lbs, 2oz. I had a 2nd degree tear which the doctor said was pretty normal. We were released the following day. Couldn't be happier 😀
