Impatient!

So I had my IUD removed Feb 12th as we are TTC baby # 2. Doctor told me he advised waiting until 1 cycle to return (which hasn't yet) Mirena info says no need to wait as fertility returns immediately. I had positive opk today, do I do what MD recommended or go with it anyway. I know the IUD thins the lining and that's the reason behind MD's recommendation, is 2 weeks long enough? Ugh....patience is not something I handle well....Thoughts?
