Squatting birth position?

I'm thinking of giving birth in the squatting position. Any repeat mom's out there have any advice or experience to share? How did it feel?

You might try many different positions during your labor. Every one is different.

Squatting is good because you're working with gravity! But you increase your chances of a tearing with that position because of the pressure and particular position

Squatting on the birthing ball while I was in labor was terribly painful for me. I sat in a rocking chair to stay moving after walking laps around the hospital. When I still made no progress (I stayed at 1cm till 2:30pm after my water broke randomly at 5:45am), I got the epidural and layed on my side (flipping every 30 minutes) with a peanut ball.  After being at 1cm for 9+ hours, I went up to 9cm in 4 hours and delivered my baby at 7:22 pm.

I labored on my side, squatting, on my back. Only thing I wasn't allowed to do was walk around the hospital when they broke my water and I was 7cm+.
