Would you say or do something if you saw someone hit their child in public?

Like a spanking, no. That's good parenting. But actually abusing, yes. I'd definitely say something

Depends on the extent of the hit, and if it's because the child is being disciplined.

There's a difference between disciplining your child and abusing them.

A smack on the hand or butt when they've done the wrong thing and reasonable.

Slapping them so hard it leaves a mark or really hurts them for no reason (or even as discipline) is abuse imo.

And I know someone will comment on my post here saying "but you shouldn't smack your kids blah blah" "teach them right from wrong omg", but you know what? Kids don't think logically like we do. You can't reason with children, especially kids under 10. Talking to them and telling them what they did is wrong doesn't always work. Kids are ignorant in some respects.

I personally (along with my 3 brothers) was a child that to get the message across, I had to get a smack on the butt. And you know what, it worked. I behaved myself. I want scared of my parents, and I didn't fear getting hit. I knew that if I did something wrong, there would be repercussions and consequences.

Depends on the hit. If a kid got a spank no, if a child is getting slapped full force across the face while getting her hair pulled with the other hand? Hell yes. Anything out of control really. Do I silently judge the mom spanking her child without explanation everytime it stands in the cart with blotchy skin from crying? Yes. But I don't know if maybe she has been shopping for an hour reexplaining it over and over that it's dangerous. Essentially not my kid and none of my business. It's when a parent is going crazy on a kid in abusive ways that I would say something. It's not cool to slam your kid against poles  while screaming outrageous stuff at them etc.

It kind of depends. I'm not going to call cps of them smacking the kids hand. Smack in the face idk what I would do I think it's so wrong to smack a small child in the face

I might not say anything to the parent, because I dont want to put myself in danger, but if it was someone that straight up slapped or punched their child I would call the police, maybe get a picture of the person so the police can identify them better.

If you open palm slap your kid in the face, yeah I'm going to say something. Any form of extreme physical harm yes bet your ass I'll get in your face about it.

Parents that do a quick spank on the but (even though I'm not down with spanking) I wouldn't react to but it's a preference of discipline and not out right abuse (some argue otherwise but you get the point)

Spanking? No. I'd rather the parent discipline them than myself or worse the Law.

Hitting so a mark isn't left? No. It's still legal.

Hitting so a mark IS left?  Yes! That's illegal and what could a child do to warrent that?

Depends on the situation. Full out punching or beating your child, or a smack on the butt or hand?

I work in retail, if I see something happen, I do different things depending on the situation... EX. I will go to the next aisle and say something along the lines of calling the  cops (usually has a great reaction) try to help the kid by preventing them from acting up, usually telling them a short story or giving them a sticker. Lastly, I ascendantly interrupt, by knocking something down and scarring everyone or something of the sort to distract them
