Depends on the kid. Most of the time it does, though.

It's supposed to be used as a chance for them to calm down, not really a punishment. When I put my daughter in time out I tell her "you can come out when you've calmed down and we can talk". But every kid is different, and you really need to do what you feel is effective.

It is going to work for my kid . See most just tell them to sit down , but yet have people talking to the kid, the TV on , or there are toys near them. Etc. Mine will face a wall , no one will be allowed to talk to him/her , they will be quiet , no screaming, crying, wining, talking , nothing , no playing with anything and no asking if they can be done . I will be adding more time if any of this occurs. And they will know that before and during their punishment so they know it can be avoided . I learned . And i also will be disciplining them if they are really bad by taking away snacks , or a treat before bed, Tv times, i mean the kid has to see whats its losing in order for it to work in my opinion . I wont always time out but i will make sure they know what they are doing is wrong .

My kid doesnt give a crap about time outs. Im at my wits end over here. Ive spanked her twice in the past two months and i never spank 😢 im just at a loss i feel like weve tried everything.
