According to a recent article in The Indepedent, a young woman was hospitalized with Toxic Shock Syndrome, a rare but serious disease that can be caused by bacteria build up from leaving a tampon in for more than the recommended maximum of 8 hours. Be safe and change tampons regularly, ladies!
