Thinking about giving up on breastfeeding..

Elizabeth • 25 years old. TTC #1 after miscarriage in 2012
For various reasons I'm considering giving up on breastfeeding. Since our baby girl was born I nursed and supplemented with formula. Most recently I've been exclusively pumping while continuing to supplement. Our daughter still hasn't returned to her birth weight (even with me supplementing) and her pediatrician is starting to get concerned. I'm just so frustrated with it. I should also mention that my daughter has acid reflex and responds best to her formula. It seems like my breastmilk upsets her stomach. She's currently taking Zantac 2x's a day.
Anyways, my boobs have been hurting really bad. My nipples are red and tender. They itch and feel like pins and needles. I'm going to be calling a lactation consultant today and hopefully I can be seen just to verify I don't have mastitis.
To those of you who have given up on breastfeeding, what was the easiest way to do so?
