Autism in girls question

I don't know much about this so I thought I would ask here. My daughter is 18 months old and we signed her up for speech therapy through early intervention because she doesn't talk yet and has difficulty learning new things. She doesn't point to the things she wants and she doesn't understand simple commands etc. They want to test for ASD and I'm not sure what to expect. Do any of you moms have a daughter with ASD? What is it like?
