What you are doing is riding but you would be in a lower swat position 
  .. If that doesn't make any since go sit somewhere like on the bed or the floor in an L position where your feet are out towards you and your sitting straight up 
Next pull you legs up agains you chest 
After that separate your legs as far as you can ( while they are still crunched up to you)
Then lift your self up on your feet, back still straight  , and legs still part 
Last bounce using your thigh muscles and keep your back straight
