What does the membrane strip feel like?

Hello! I am exactly 39 weeks today and due on the 16th of March. I have a feeling my baby boy doesn't wanna come out! My sister in law recommended I get a membrane strip tomorrow at my clinic, but it sounds a little intimidating. Do any of y'all recommend it? Also, is it an uncomfortable and long procedure? I want my baby to not go over 40 weeks!! Thanks guys 🤗😋

I just had it done 30 mins ago didn't hurt at all felt like a regular exam, I asked her if she did it right lol but then I saw the pink blood and was like okay!! Great!

Just remember. A baby has never not been born before! See it as a compliment that baby is safe and comfortable in there (plus be selfish, and know that you have a little longer of it just being the two of you!) I have 4 days until my due date and haven't had any signs of baby being on the way. I also got checked at my 39 week appointment on Monday and they said that I was only 1cm and didnt recommend getting my membranes stripped. Just getting checked was VERY uncomfortable. Good luck!

It's definitely uncomfortable and it varies by doctor if they use a tool or their finger. My doctor says he finds more effective to use his fingers because he can also stretch the cervix at the same time. It's a lot of pressure but it only lasts about 30 seconds!

It hurts and is very uncomfortable. I'm going to see if my dr will do one today sense I'm due in two days with my second baby.

Very quick pain! Not as bad as I thought. I was cared too, but it's so short and then it's over, so don't worry!

I've seen a lot of people reporting that it doesn't hurt. I did not have that same experience. Regular exams don't bother me at all. These membrane sweeps though... Woof. They take my breath away and I consider myself pretty tough. They're over with relatively quick, but both of mine have been painful. No results from them yet, dang it.
