Meet Mila Kinsley!

Brenda
My due date was 2/4/16. On Tuesday 2/2/16 I woke up needing to pee at 5am. (I had been 2 & 1/2 cm dilated & 50% effaced for about a week) Afterwards I began having what felt like menstrual cramps but we're really contractions. I started having them every 2-3 minutes. I woke my husband up at 6am & we decided to head to the hospital at about 6:30 am (about a 45 minute drive). On the way my contractions only became worse & more consistent. Once we arrived we headed over to OB triage. After waiting a while they decided to finally check to see how far dilated I was. I had dilated to 3cm but it wasn't enough for them to admit me even with my contractions being so close together. My nurse said she was going to let me stay for a little while & if I didn't progress to at least 4cm I would be sent home. Sure enough when she came back to check on me I had dilated to 4cm. She walked my husband & I up to my room. I was admitted to the hospital at 10:30am. Once in my room they had me start filling out the paperwork. My contractions were now about a minute apart. I opted out of the epidural but I did agree to the gas. The gas doesn't take away the pain it just makes it a tad bit more manageable (not much of a difference though). Right after being hooked up to the gas my nurse decided to see if I'd dilated anymore. Sure enough in those 5 minutes it took to walk up to my room I had gone from 4cm to 9 1/2 cm dilated. My nurse couldn't believe it! It was time to push! They began to rush around the room trying to set everything up for my doctor who hadn't even arrived yet! I yelled over to my nurse the I felt the need to push! She told me to hold off if i could but my body decided otherwise. I started pushing & my nurse ran over just in time to catch the baby's head. Two more pushes & my little girl was out. My doctor arrived just in time to catch the baby's body & to stitch me up! Three pushes was all it took. (Mind you that the entire time this was going on I forgot to put my gas mask back on so I felt everything! Lol). I was admitted to the hospital at 10:30 am & my daughter arrived at 11:07 am. We were so shocked as to how quickly my labor went by! About 15 minutes later my in laws came up to the room with my toddler to say hi & see how I was doing & to their surprise I already had our second little princess in my arms. Everyone was in shock! Everyone, myself included, were expecting me to be in labor all day. (With my first I was in labor for 14 hours). We were so overjoyed to finally have our little girl here. We named her Mila Kinsley. She weighed 6 pounds 11 ounces & measures 18 inches long. She's absolutely perfect. ❤️
