How quick does your body take to realise you're pregnant?

How long does it take your body to realise you're pregnant, because say if you had sex 5 days before your period but for pregnancy tests you have to wait like 2/3 weeks for it to show up how would your body know for your period not to come that week?

Answer

You will probably not get pregnant 5 days before your period. The first day of your period is cycle day 1. Generally one will ovulate 14 to 16 days after that the few days before ovulation to the day after is when you will be able to get pregnant.

After that, it generally takes about another two weeks for your fertilized egg to implant and start building up your hcg levels which hpts detect. Your level of hcg will generally be high enough about the date you miss your period.

You miss your period because that because your body knows it needs that excess blood (that would be your period) to help the fertilized egg to implant and grow into a baby.
