Water breaking

Rhianna

I have seen a lot of posts lately where full-term ladies are advised to head to l&d as soon as their water breaks, regardless of whether or not they are in active labor. I have always been told that it is no big deal (given that you are full term) as long as there is no meconium present (amniotic fluid should be almost clear) and you don't have complicatons like placenta previa. I was told that if you aren't in active labor within 24hours, then go in because of the risk of distress and infection.

Anyone else been told similar, or has the recommendation changed?
