To use a bumbo or not?

There is so much controversy out there on bumbos. What is your ladies thoughts? If you use one at what age did you start?

Like with everything....you just gotta use it appropriately!! Appropriate age, appropriate surface (the floor), appropriate length of time, appropriate supervision,  etc.

She hasn't steered me wrong yet, so we'll be using that.

I have had one given to me and was wondering that myself as she can sit up when I hold her at her waist which is surely the same as a bumbo would do. I am interested to see what people say.

We just bought one and my sons getting used to it. He's working on total head control still but he's mostly stable.

I started using one when my son started getting trunk and head control. I think bumbos are unsafe if you leave the baby unattended on the kitchen counter, etc. I never had a problem with the bumbo. We'd sit on the floor with him and play, I'd let him sit in it on the kitchen table while I was right there, I even had him on the counter with it, BUT, I was right next to him. I never turned my back, never left him unattended. This was before the bumbo was deemed unsafe (he's 6 now). It's all in your supervision I think. It's not a replacement for a high chair, I think, where you can buckle them in and walk away if need be. Even though I fed him unit a few times, but again, never walked away.

I plan on getting one, our lo loves to sit up! Our chiropractor told us you shouldn't put them in it until they can sit up on their own to avoid "falsely" building the back muscles.
