Husband doesn't want to wear a ring

So I'm getting married in two months to my fiancé. We have been looking for a band for him (I know, very last minute), but he doesn't want to wear a band. He keeps saying how uncomfortable it is, and how he thinks it will get bent with his job, and keeps asking if he can get a "marriage watch" instead. At first, it felt like he was joking about it. But now that we're getting closer to the wedding, and he still doesn't want to wear a ring, I don't know what to do. Anyone else have this issue? Did you force him to wear a ring, or did you compromise?
