Should parents be able to express being disappointed in the gender of their child?

Km

A while ago I posted a question asking if any of the ladies on Glow had any advice on how to help deal with gender disappointed.

The main responses I received from the post was that the parent should feel guilt for not being happy about having a healthy baby and they should hand over the baby to those who would be more greatful. (I made that post out of curiosity, I wasn't pregnant, nor am I.)

Thankfully some women gave great advice about how to get excited over the gender and sympathized with those who came forward, while unfortunately others tried to alienate them.

In the link I'm posting it shows that 1-5 of her patients express feeling disappointed with the gender of their child.

To try to show both sides of this I tried to search "wrong to feel gender disappointment" in Google but I got mostly sympathetic links... so if you find one, feel free to post it!

So my question is...

Should parents be able to express being disappointed in the gender of their child?
