Labor stories?!

I'm currently 39 weeks with my first baby so I was wondering if people would share their stories on how their water broke what they expected and what was a shock. So us first time moms can have a heads up lol 😁 And any advice would be amazing like things you wish you knew before your water broke and through labor❤️

Everything was totally normal and I just went about my life until I felt like I just started my period. A little leak of water wet my pants so I changed and then it happened again so I was like lol my water probably broke. I was totally calm and I ate my dinner then headed to the hospital. Checked in at 10:30 and they said I was at a 1 and if I didn't progress by 6 am they will start inducing me. 6 am came along and I was still a 1 so they started the pitocin and then it started getting really bad. I wanted to go as long as possible without the epidural but around 1 pm I was in tears with the contractions. I was at a 4 at the time of the epidural. Once 3pm hit I was at a 9 and started pushing soon after The epidural was a life saver because I was basically numb from the legs down. I had 3 people in the delivery room with me and they we having a harder time than me while I was pushing lol. I was watching tv when I was crowning and didn't feel a thing. I pulled out my own baby and he was a whopping 8lbs being 2 weeks early. Even though I had a 19 hour labor and horrible excruciating pain before the epidural I wouldn't have traded that moment for anything. I would advise to not watch birth video prior bc it just makes everything scarier than it actually is. Being a ftm at 18 was super scary but it's an amazing feeling once you hold your little baby

The day before my due date I walked so much because I wanted the baby out. 2 hrs later, I had 3 min apart contractions. We went to the hospital and I wasn't dilated enough, so they sent me home. The next morning, i felt like I was peeing. Turns out my water broke! I had my beautiful Serene on her due date. It's an amazing, crazy, painful experience. But you'll know it's worth it when every moment you spend with your little one.

I was 42 weeks and was induced and didnt know i was in labor until i went back to the hospital to check to see if they needed to induce me again i went back to the hospital and i was 7.5 cm dilated and they broke my water for me and that is when the real pain started before that i was just really uncomfortable

With my first I went about 3 days over and the doctors induced me. They were terrified of me being a c-section. Daddy's 6'5" and I'm 5'1"... I went into "actual" labour about 12 hours later. I screamed for the first hour, so loud the entire maternity ward could hear. Apparently potocin(sp?) can cause contractions to become more severe...

I hurt so bad I couldn't move by myself. I didn't even feel the epideral. I slept for 2 hours after that and when they woke me up it was time to push! I felt like I was dreaming. When baby was crowning he went back inside and I literally barfed him out. It was embarrassing. It took 15 minutes to push and someone accidently cut me with a tool. Only tear I had.

All in all not bad. Baby was healthy and I'm not really sure I can complain. I'm just hoping with number two it goes as well if not better. Much luck to all mommy-to-bes!

With my first I gave birth at 36+5...I was definitely not expecting an early baby lol at my 36 week check up I was around 3cms dialated and 80% effaced so my doctor took me off work...a few days later I was nesting like crazy and my contractions started as I was scrubbing my bathtub at 5 am lol I went to the hospital at around 10 or 11 am and was admitted right away, I was almost 6cms with my water buldging. I opted for one dose of iv pain meds to help me nap a while since I was exhausted from cleaning all night lol the med lasted a coyple hours and after that it was all natural. My water was broken by my doctor since it didn't seem to want to break on its own. Labor sped up after that. After 45 minutes pushing my baby boy was born 5/14/2012 at 7:43 pm. Overall it was a fairly good experience...I can't wait to do it all again in september!...or August if this one comes early too!

I went 9 days over. I had a doctors appointment at 8 days and was at a 4 and I went into labor that day and I still had to get pitocin because I hadn't progressed past a 4 in over 12 hours even tho I was in labor. When I was at a 5 I got my epidural. Getting that was the worst part for me. But I have a slightly curved spine. So it took 4 tries. And the 3 tries hurt super bad. The 4th time, when it went in, didn't hurt at all. So you should be fine if you plan on getting one. My doctor came in and broke my water a couple hours later when I was at a9 and then came back 2 hours later and I pushed for 45 minutes and she was here! 9lbs9oz. I did tear pretty bad. But it was fine. I actually really loved my labor and delivery. It was a beautiful experience for me. And I can't wait to have more.

I was 40+4 and didn't realize I was in labor until I started having REAL contractions at home. My water didn't break on its own. I got to the hospital, got an epidural and once I was 7 cm they stuck a 'crochet hook' type tool up there and broke it. My son was born less than an hour later!
