First ultrasound?

I am a first time mom, and have no idea what to expect with doctors appointments. How early did your doctor do your first ultrasound? I'm only 5 weeks 2 days along, and have an appointment on the 21st (it was already set for a wellness check before I found out I was pregnant😊). I am dying to have my first ultrasound!

My first appointment I was 6+2; they asked when my last period was and calculated my due date. No blood or urine test. Not many questions asked. My doctor did a Pap smear because I was overdue. He gave me a list of safe medications and prescribed me some vitamins. Then he sent me over for an ultrasound. I'll go back in one month for my first OB work up.

At your first appointment you'd more than likely get a dating scan and labs done (urine and/or blood) and then you'd answer a few questions about your health and its history.

My first appointment was today and they asked of family history and they did a papsmear. My next appointment in 2 weeks from now (I'll be 10 weeks) will be the sonogram and blood work :) and every appointment I have to give urine so they can check for protein. Good luck!

Most Drs wait until about 12 weeks for the first ultrasound but I have seen some that do them at 8 weeks. If they didn't tell you you're having one at your appt then you probably aren't so don't get your hopes up just in case! It's so hard to wait for the first u/s
