Hello! It's a bit long so please bear with me! I've recently had a sad incident. Let me explain. Me and my husband went on a vacation to Portland and we stayed at a lovely bed and breakfast place. Everything with the trip was so awesome. So on the last day of the trip, we came down to breakfast and the hostess placed some decorative antique plates over the table and said that she'd be bringing in the serving plates and dishes out soon. Just then another couple entered the dining room and sat with us. The girl started putting scrambled eggs over her antique plate. So I told her politely that the hostess went to bring in breakfast serving plates and these are just decorative plates and not for eating purposes. She almost immediately got so offended and started yelling at me that she isn't some street tramp to not know the difference between a tablecloth and a plate... And she said a lot of things that I'm being a mean jerk and stuff and I just couldn't understand what I've said wrong. I just didn't want her to eat for a non edible plate as its just used instead of a decorative table cloth. My husband tried to intervene and say that I meant nothing offensive but her guy stood up and asked my husband to f**k off. The hostess came out immediately and tried to settle her down saying the same. She said that it was the worst place ever and she is never gonna come back and stormed off. I told the poor dumbstruck hostess what had happened and even she couldn't understand what pissed her off. We checked out without eating anything as I was close to tears and my husband said it was my fault and I shouldn't have meddled and should've let her eat from that stupid plate itself.... Please tell me was I wrong in letting her know? Should I have kept quiet and minded my own business??? Am I wrong????
