Does an epidural hurt?

So ladies,

I woke up panicking because I had a dream that I was getting the epidural and they kept poking me with the freaking needle and it hurt SO bad, I was screaming in my dream! Does it hurt?

I mean it's a needle going into your spine, if you move to much you could seriously damage it. With that being said does it feel good no but does it hurt... Um labor is worse. It just feels like a shot in your back followed by a lot of pressure.

I don't know about anyone else but they numbed the area they put the epidural in, I didn't feel a thing.

And honestly, the contractions are so painful that everything else is gravy.

I honestly don't remember it being all too bad, I am TERRIFIED of needles so it was the most scariest thing coming for me, but I was in that much agony with my contractions, plus I think they numb the area that all I remember thinking is, that wasn't as bad as I wAs expecting, not that it worked. They punctured my spine with it so it didn't numb me and I ended up with leaking spinal fluids and spinal headaches after my sons birth.

Honestly at that point you could care less. If you're getting an epidural you're already in a crazy Amt of pain anyway lol

I hardly felt it... Getting blood drawn 'hurt' more..

The contractions hurt so bad I didnt even feel the epidural needle

I was more worried about the Dr doing it between contractions and keeping still, rather then what it felt like to be honest. If your contractions are really bad and you're exhausted, that lil needle is a godsend! You'll feel loads better in no time at all :-)
