I think this depends on your age and what you need to talk to her about. I know that when I was younger there was no way I would have talked to my mom about my sex life but she made sure I was very educated on the topic and if I wanted to talk to her she was there. Now that I'm older I'll talk to her about it but there isn't a need for it.

My mom and I are pretty close, so I feel comfortable telling her about myself and my S/O. Plus were Natives ? so, I take what she says into high consideration. But, to each their own, if you don't feel comfortable, maybe a close friend or sibling.

I'd ask questions first. I was never forthcoming about anything. I'm still not and I'm 29.

As a mother myself, I hope my kids will be comfortable coming to me with any problems or concerns, but I really don't need to know full details...lol!
