The other colored pills? ?

Can you have sex on the other colored pills? Without getting pregnant. It's my month using them and yes I would also use a condom(the ones that are at the end of the cycle) My dr didn't really tell me about the other colored pills. I know that they start you period in a few days of taking them but what else do they do and how are they different from the pills in the beginning of the cycle?
