Can you tell me about an IUD?

Hi guys, I'm on the pill and I recently had a condom break on me. It made me think. I'm not the most responsible with the pill at times I forget. I'm thinking about switching to an IUD

My iud was AMAZING I loved it so much! No periods, very very minimal pms symptoms. So convenient. Could not recommend it highly enough! Never got pregnant on it, followed up with my provider to make sure it was in place. Are there risks? Absolutely,  really shocking ones, and not to minimize anyone's experience, but every medical decision you make carries risk. It's on you and your doctor to weigh the risk vs benefit and decide what is right for you. Planned parenthood online site has good info, so does bedsider. Read the scary stuff from whichever iud website you choose. Really educate yourself, but there are studies that show IUDS are preferred by female gyns for their own birth control and those women are really smart!

I had the copper one as hormones do not agree with me so the only hormone free contraception being the copper iud .. I loved it nothing to remember, it was pain free on insertion and removal and only had it removed so i could have another baby it will be straight back in after. Everyones different and will be horror stories with all methods its finding whats right for you, it is more trial and error oh and the copper coil lasts 10 year 👌🏼☺️

I personally don't like the thought of an IUD, I've heard too many horror stories. Pre-baby I had the Implanon in my arm, it is a hormone birth control just like some of the IUD options. Everyone is different, but I never got my period and my hormones were balanced so I never got crazy PMS symptoms! For those reasons alone I loved it and will be getting it put back in soon (now it's known as Nexplanon). Inserted in the arm, distributes the hormones throughout your body & lasts for up to 3 years. Do your research on ALL birth control types before deciding though, get whatever you think is best for you!

No, no, no. Not a good choice for me. Made me have cystic acne and while she was removing it stated "it was on its way out".  I don't care for them
