My mom is an alcoholic as well.. It's hard, she was clean for 6 months then things went crazy and she back to drinking two 18 packs of tall boy bud light a night... I try to help her but she gets mad..

Al anon and alateen are support groups for people with family members suffering addiction. Def look into it!

You should've gave an option for both alcohol and drugs since I have family addicted to one or the other or both. More addicted to alcohol though.

Unfortunately my DH is an alcoholic and we are getting him help it's a hard struggle for use both it's been harder since I found out I was pregnant I want to give up on him a lot and tell him I need a divorce but I love him and he is doing his best to get help god bless those who help the addicts and give their loved ones hope

I've got a cousin on one side who was a heroin addict until she OD-ed and died this past spring, and a cousin on the other side who kicked heroin. My brother dabbles in several drugs which scares the hell out of me, and there are a few alcoholics spread throughout my extended family, but we aren't close. 
All I can say is you're not alone. Please don't feel like you can't reach out to someone for support. Lots of groups can help with the fears you must be facing
