Your views on spanking?

My views are....

I will never, ever spank my daughter because I see it as a form of abuse, not punishment or discipline. It is teaching them nothing, I see it as you're teaching your child it is okay to hit others. But, hey if spanking your children works for you and your family, so be it. But, I myself don't agree with it and I'm ok with that. My daughter will have a time out chair and she'll deal with the corner as well as stuff taken away from her. My fiancé and I were never spanked, why would I spank my daughter? Hmm.

Dang, I got my ass beat all the time. 😂 I grew up fine and love both my parents for it but everybody has their different methods.

I'm not for or against spanking.  I don't see it as abuse as I was spanked as a child.  I am only 16 weeks and 4 days so I don't know how I will discipline my child yet.  But I don't want to spank, I would rather do a time out and explain to them why they are in trouble.  But I hate to say it sometimes that doesn't work for all kids.  My baby might need more punishment, when much much older, and I won't know until I meet him or her!  I don't judge parents who do spank their kids because sometimes you have to.  I learned at a young age to respect my parents and I knew right from wrong.

I think it's lazy and abusive. All it does is make your child afraid of you, lose your respect, and teaches them that violence is the answer. I was spanked, and all it would do is make me hate my father and misbehave more. How could you hit someone that you created? Someone you should love and die for. That makes no sense to me whatsoever.

I see no issue with it. My oldest is an amazing kid. Very well rounded and yes, judge and send me to hell, I've spanked his butt before. It wasn't abuse I was disciplining him.

I believe in spanking as a last resort when other forms dont work. All kids don't need it some do. I didn't my little brother CERTAINLY did.

I don't believe in spankings. I FEEL like all spankings do is scare kids into acting right at the fear of physical punishment but once they are no longer afraid then what can be done? While spankings can be effective the first few years I think if a child is still getting spankings at 8 then that is failure on the parents parenting more so than the child being a bad child. I do believe that if you spank your child you shouldn't be spanking them once they display that they understand right from wrong I feel like if a child can talk and understand what is expected of them then they should be punished in a different way besides spanking. Not trying to offend anyone so don't take it that way this is just y opinion.

I won't spank. Spanking is an effective means of stopping a behavior, but no better than time out. Nothing made me angrier as a child than spankings, and I would get more and more defiant to show them that it wouldn't work and they would hit me harder and harder until I would break down into tears. Finally, my mom hit me so hard she broke her wooden spoon, and she started to cry and apologized and said she would never hit me again. And she didn't, and didn't allow my dad or stepdad to, either. After that, I was a good kid.

Spanking (a tap on the butt) makes your child stop and remember that there are consequences to actions. Calling me lazy is the close minded parents view that doesn't care if their kid runs in the street and get hit by a car!! Don't ever insult a parent for discipline
