Do you have to wear black to a funeral?

Going to a funeral today and it's more of a celebration of life at a park. Not religious. Said that casual attire was ok, but do I have to wear black?

You don't have to wear black, but do wear a color that doesn't stand out. It's rude to go to one in bright colored clothing.

When my sister passed, we also had a celebration of her life rather than a funeral. I wore all black with a yellow headband and yellow scarf, since yellow was her favorite color. A lot of my family chose to wear yellow as well. I think as long as your colors are muted and respectful, the family won't have a problem.

It depends on the person. If not instructed otherwise I would wear black but I went to a funeral recently of a family member and we were told to wear bright colours because she was a kind and colourful person.

Depends on the person youre going to celebrate. When my besties mom died I wore a sweater she gave me to her wake because that made me feel closer to her.
