Has anyone had the HSG procedure performed?

Question

I went to a fertility specialist today and he wants to perform the HSG procedure to check my tubes for blockage.  If you have had this done (or know someone who has), can you share the story of the experience please?

I had one after I had a myomectomy. The procedure is very simple, they will insert dye into your uterus and if your tubes are open, the dye will come out the other end. I didn't feel a thing, and it's kind of cool to see the dye. I did have to change positions at one point because I was laying weird and the dye couldn't find the opening.  It is painless.

For me it honestly was awful....they have to expand your uterus with a balloon type thing then push the dye through then the internal ultrasound wand while waiting and watching for the dye to move through your tubes...I wish I brought my husband with me for that one...I ended up having the worst cramps of my life for about a half hour after...don't mean to scare you but my experience wasn't great

Mine was incredibly painful when the dye went in, even after taking ibuprofen. But it only lasts a few seconds so its bearable!

My procedure was very uncomfortable and painfuk.  the test showed that I had hydrosalpinx. It is when a fallopian tube is dilated severely. I had to have it removed. My tube was bigger than my uterus! ! I had the surgery two months ago and I just had my first IUI.  I am waiting to see if it worked or not. Wish us luck! Good luck with your procedure. It is worth it.

It was uncomfortable, but I wouldn't say painful.  Definitely take Ibuprofen before and after. You should expect some cramps and spotting afterwards. I went right back to work after the procedure and was fine. It's scary more than anything, but breathe through it and do your best to relax.

Mine was EXTREMELY painful. I have both tube blocked though. Was done a few weeks ago so now doing ivf!

Just had mine done can't say if it's painful or not cos I was put to sleep for the procedure, but had an excruciating pain for 2 days

Mine was super quick and painless. I took ibuprofen beforehand and did some deep breathing to relax. The whole thing from the time speculum was inserted plus pictures taken etc was maybe 90 seconds.
