Both. I used hook and loop(Velcro) until at 13 months my son learned how to undo it and zippers. So now I use snaps(buttons)

We use Velcro because I didn't think about him trying to undo them in the future. I was thinking just how easy they are now. Lol

We had a hunch if snaps diapers but the brand didn't hold up. We had 1 Velcro with Kawaii and we were sold. We will have to figure out what to do when he reaches the point of taking them off. (Hopefully never!)

Velcro doesn't hold up well to how often they will need washed :)

I'm a FTM due in December.  We opted for snaps because if our son is anything like either parent,  he will be a defiant little bugger.  The snaps will ensure make it harder for him to undo.
