Is it normal to have cramps and blood clots when your pregnant? And have a "period"?

I went to ER Friday for cramping and bleeding, did  vaginal ultrasound and could only see sac, too early to see anything else. I have to go back tomorrow for more blood work to see if my hcg levels are still going up! Doctor say it's a threatened miscarriage we won't know for sure until tomorrow, the suspense is killing me

I had severe bleeding this pregnancy and baby was fine but I also had it before and was miscarrying...it varies and definitely should consult a doctor
