Do you believe drug addicts who have lost their kids due to neglect, should ever get them back?

Yes but I think they should have to be clean for a reasonable amount of time first and then have regular drug tests and home check ups once they get the kids back.

I know several women who've made mistakes and felt so aweful for those mistakes with drugs that they fought for years just to get clean and get their kids back. And they're great moms. Some revert back but you can't blanket the whole group by a couple strays actions.

No, the key word being neglect. Had they lost them because of a drug crime like shoplifting or dealing maybe.  That can be forgiven, neglect can't .

I do think parents should be able to get their kids back, but only if the family services are very, very certain the parents are clean and won't relapse. Also, if the child has already been with a good foster family for awhile and has bonded with them and has a new family, I say too bad, so sad. The biological parents had a chance, they blew it, and it's not fair for the foster parent to have to give their child up now.

My husband was a heroin addict several years ago. He did his time and his BM got all rights to his daughter. He gets 1 hour of supervised visits per week and even then BM makes up excuses. My husband has been clean for 4 years, has paid off ALL back child support (12,000 dollars) has a really good job and has medical insurance for his daughter. He completed college and hasn't been in any kind of trouble in several years. We are in the process of taking it back to court now because there's no reason he shouldn't be able to have his daughter.

No one will ever understand what drug addicts go through unless they have been one. My brother was a drug addict and now he's away for a year. But I know he loves his son so much. He did anything for him and he still would.
