Second hand bassinet???

MissJelly
Were in the process of buying baby furniture for the babies room. We'll buy a new cot but everyone is insisting we just buy a second hand bassinet given they're not used for long and usually heaps cheaper than new. But I'm feeling like a right snob because I don't like the idea if having a second hand bassinet and the cost of buying a new mattress will make the cost rise to the point as it would be better to just but new. If it came from someone I knew I'd be okay. But even then the recommendation is to always replace the mattress after each child, even your own.
Are you buying a second hand bassinet? What are your thoughts? If you think I'm a snob please tell me!!
