Ultrasound tech asked me if I'm on birth control?

I went to get an external and internal ultrasound to see if I have any cysts or polyps and at the end of everything my tech asked me if I was on birth control? I'm not understanding why? Is this normal? Did she see something?

It can make a difference with the ovaries if you are on hormones

Birth control can help prevent Cysts from growing on your ovaries.  Maybe they are asking because they see one, or if you previously had one, maybe it is gone.
